Well, we made it onto BBC4 Woman’s Hour today, which has been running a week long feature on single parenting.
I like the programme and listen most days and often feel like calling in. However, as the name implies, the programme is by women and for women, ostensibly dealing with the key issues women face in dealing with the challenges of daily life. But given there is no male equivalent, women do not constitute the parenting plural and the importance of the subject, I picked up the phone and called.
Quite rightly, the producers are looking to tackle some of the lingering misconceptions about single parenting and the attitudes and prejudices engendered.
